Event: David X. Swenson PhD presents "Climate Change and the Implications for Health and Human Services in Minnesota."
Description: There is high consensus among climatologists that our climate is changing and becoming warmer. These changes are projected to produce significant heat waves, variable storms, areas of flooding and drought, and likelihood of increased agricultural and human disease problems. This presentation will explain how climate change is occurring, what its likely impacts will be in the US in general and Minnesota specifically, and how these changes can affect our economy, lifestyles, health and human services. The purpose of this presentation is to prompt discussion of the climate issues and consider how to deal with its likely impact over time. The growing body of literature on climate change is available and understandable to most people who are interested in reading it.
